3DSHOES.COM · REAL PROJECT

From a Shopify STL store to a working industry publication.

In August 2023, I began rebuilding 3DShoes.com around editorial publishing rather than downloadable shoe STL sales. The WordPress website, content library, publishing workflow, search structure, social channels, newsletter, and technical operations have remained part of the work since then.
RECORDED RESULTS

Three years of publishing and audience activity.

Historical values from the original case study. Website Analytics covers August 3, 2023–August 31, 2026. Pinterest monthly views are an August 2026 snapshot.

THE PROJECT

The business model changed. The existing work did not disappear.

3DShoes.com began as a Shopify store selling downloadable STL files for 3D-printed footwear. That model did not perform as intended. The next direction used the existing domain and content library as the foundation for a specialist publication.

Starting point

A product-first Shopify storefront, with over 600 existing articles.

New direction

A WordPress publication covering 3D-printed footwear, design, manufacturing, and technology.

Built around discovery

The homepage gives readers routes into articles, news, innovation coverage, search, newsletter signup, and relevant products.
MY ROLE

The work involved more than the rebuild.

I’ve handled development, ongoing editorial work, on-page optimization, distribution, and day-to-day site operations. These responsibilities are documented in the original case study.

WordPress development & UX

Rebuilt the site, redesigned the homepage, developed mobile-responsive page layouts, and improved navigation.

Information architecture

Organized content categories, the site structure, article discovery, and search experience.

Research, writing & editing

Researched developments, wrote and edited coverage, and managed editorial planning.

Visuals & publishing

Sourced and optimized images, formatted content, and maintained publishing.

On-page SEO

Worked on metadata, structure, internal linking, and page-level optimization.

Technical maintenance

Handled WordPress maintenance and technical operations for the publication.

Social distribution

Managed content distribution on Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest, X, and LinkedIn.

Newsletter, products & reporting

Managed newsletter work, product and affiliate sections, and performance monitoring.
THE WEBSITE AND EDITORIAL WORK

A working publication, not just a finished homepage.

These original screenshots show the public website and the WordPress publishing library. They’re evidence of the work performed, not a public Analytics dashboard. The historical performance numbers appear in the sections below.

ONGOING EDITORIAL WORK

The publication requires more than a finished site.

The documented workflow includes research, writing, editing, image preparation, on-page SEO, publication, distribution, analysis, and planning. Coverage spans innovation, design, news, guides, products, companies, 3D printing, and footwear technology.
